Anybody watching the series on HBO? It's incredible and makes me wonder what it must have been like for these guys, who were so strong and marched right into hell to serve their country and then a generation later had to listen to their kids say they wouldn't serve. Just something else to think about.

STUPID COMPARISON
I've been watching, and perhaps you should have stuck with the show! You'll see that some of our greatest generation did terrible things. I'm thinking about the marine who tried to extract gold teeth from Japanese casualty when he was still alive!!! You should read the article about the greatest generation crap in the current issue of the Atlantic. These boys did what they did and many didn't have any choice. And there was terrible racism. You know that marines often couldn't tell Chinese, Japanese, and Filipinos apart which means that many of them shot our allies? Don't glorify war because it's a bloody mess.
