For Authors: Why Libertary?

Libertary broadens readership by connecting your book with an online constituency. We help you take advantage of the benefits of a free online version of your book.

 Attract readers to your book.

Every Libertary book is featured on its own web page, formatted for comfortable reading on a screen. At your option, we engage readers by allowing them to leave moderated annotations in a “living” copy on our website. Enhancements can include links to author background, other books, and web sites.

Sell printed copies of your book.

Our business model is based on research showing that free online versions of books actually increase sales of printed copies. Our goal is to attract and engage readers for your books. We provide links to buy printed versions, and we share affiliate fees with you (and your publisher if that is part of your business agreement with them.)

Raise your book’s profile through targeted marketing on the web.

Libertary isn’t just a place to put your book online. If we accept a book for our site, we work to connect it to web sites and blogs identified as sources of readership, by arranging  for links directly to your book’s page and exposure through social networking.

Add revenue sources for your book.

We ask readers to support Libertary and the book by voluntary payment of an amount they choose. We also place Google ads discretely on the page. Libertary shares this revenue with the author and/or publisher, depending on your business arrangements.

Libertary does not violate author-publisher agreements. We post books in copyright only with permission by the owner of electronic rights and copyright holder. Some authors who wish to publish on Libertary may have online distribution rights. Or a sublicense from the publisher may be required. We work with you to manage business arrangements properly.

You can tell how Libertary is working for your book. We ask authors and publishers to report sales figures to us from before and after posting on Libertary. These figures, together with revenue from the Libertary site, provide the financial picture. We also make available reports of site traffic, showing the increased exposure and readership books get from the Libertary online presence.
